CIVIL AVIATION CABIN SERVICES PROGRAM
ING24212E –Aviation English
1. Aviation English is a compulsory course. It is a specialized course designed for students pursuing a career in civil aviation cabin services. This course aims to develop the students' English language skills specific to the aviation industry, focusing on the communication skills required for effective cabin services.Throughout the course, students will enhance their language proficiency through comprehensive language practice in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. They will engage in interactive discussions, role-plays, group activities, and simulations, simulating real-flight scenarios and practical situations encountered by cabin crew members.
2. In order to get the best outcome, Aviation English course requires intensive attendance and active participation during and after the lesson. Even though the class is fully face-to-face, we have one main platform to follow regularly (lms.fsm.edu.tr) for this particular course
3. To support your improvement extra practices, progress tests and materials are also provided in this platform and you are supposed to complete them by due dates. No extra time is given when the due date is missed.
4. Whether face-to-face or online, you have to come to classes on time. If you are late for more than 5 minutes, you will not be accepted to class and will be marked as absent.

a. Teacher Evaluation (10%)
Teacher evaluation consists of:
- Participation
- Attendance
- Attitude towards your teachers & classmates.
- Behaviors in class / on the online system.
b. Assignment (10%)
Your assignment grade will be given base on;
- You will take Four (4) Progress tests on LMS.
- Your overall grade will be the average of your test results.
c. Quiz (10%)
You will take a quiz before your midterm during class. The quiz consists of Aviation English Terminology and Use of Aviation English, listening comprehension.
d. Mid-term Exam (30%)
-You are going to take your mid-term exam in the announced week of the spring term.
- For the exact date and details about the examination, please follow the automation system(obs.fsm.edu.tr), bulletin boards and the academic calendar on our university website.
e. Final Exam (40%)
-You are going to take your final exam in the last week of the spring term. For the exact date and details about the examination, please follow the automation system(obs.fsm.edu.tr), bulletin boards and the academic calendar on our university website.
f. Late Assignments (homework, project, etc.)
- You are responsible for handing in all assignments on time.
- Late submissions will NOT be accepted.
g. Absenteeism
1. Students are obliged to attend every course, practice and laboratory work of the program they are enrolled in, as well as the exams and academic studies required or deemed necessary by the relevant instructor.
2. It is essential for students to attend the entire course. In order for a student to take the semester/end-of-year exams from a course or application;
a) At least 70% of the theoretical courses,
b) At least 80% of the applied courses, must be attended.
3. Medical bills taken due to health problems are also taken into consideration.
4. Students who fail to fulfill the attendance requirement cannot take the exams of the relevant course. Students who are deemed unsuccessful due to absenteeism are given a grade of DZ by the instructor teaching the course. Students who fail a course with a DZ grade are required to attend the course in the repeat course.
5. In the case of repeating failed courses for which attendance is required, attendance is required for practical courses, but not for theoretical courses.
6. Students who are assigned by the University administration in national teams and inter-university sports competitions or cultural events are not taken into account in the calculation of the attendance period; students take the exams that they cannot take during these periods on the day and time announced by the instructor teaching the course.
